Anti Aging Facial Creams Free Trials – Beware of Scams!

July 10th, 2009

As I mentioned in the previous post, many so-called wrinkle creams “free trials” are just scams, as reported by consumers on sites such as complaints.com.

In the end, I decided to try the two free-trial products below, because they:
1) Have received positive consumer feedback (in forums etc.)
2) Allow a reasonable time for people to try out the product, before the guarantee expires

Below are some pros and cons of my experience with each product.

1) Freeze 24/7 Wrinkle Reduction Cream – 30 Day Free Trial (click here to check out the product)

PROS:

As soon as I apply the cream and the serum I feel a cool tingly feeling. Within minutes, the lines and wrinkles actually start to become less noticeable, especially the forehead wrinkles and the laugh lines. The first time I used these, I was caught off-guard (in a nice way) by how quickly it worked wonders on my face. Needless to say, I’m quite impressed with this product, in spite of the cons below. (Click Here For More Details.)

CONS:

The wrinkle cream and eye serum tend to “cake” and leave a white residue behind, which will make make-up look “bumpy”. (*Update* I’ve figured out how to solve this problem by 1)applying the wrinkle cream and eye serum while my face is still wet, and 2)reducing the amount I’m applying. These seem to do the trick.)

I don’t like the lip plump because it stings my lips a bit, although it did make them look fuller. Also, whenever I put the applicator back into the tube the content would overflow to make a mess, so they definitely should improve on their packaging.

After using these products for 20+ days (i.e. at the end of the 30-day trial period less delivery time), I stopped applying them for two days to see if there were any permanent improvements. Although my facial lines were not as deep as they were before, the differences were small. Although the product does give my face an almost instant make-over, the benefits seem to be more temporary than permanent. Perhaps it’s because I just haven’t been using this product long enough.

Free Trial Kit Includes:

Wrinkle Cream, Eye Serum, Prep & Polish Ice Crystals, Double Scoop Moisturizer, Lip Plump

How I Use It:

Morning – Wash face with Prep & Polish, apply pea-sized wrinkle cream directly to lines (crow’s feet, forehead wrinkles, laugh lines, lines around mouth), apply eye serum around eyes, wait about a minute for the wrinkle cream and eye serum to absorb, finish with the moisturizer
Evening – Wash face, then apply moisturizer
See More Info on the Freeze 24/7 Free Trial

2) AminoGenesis 3 Piece Anti Aging Kit – 14 Day Free Trial (click here to check out the product)

PROS:

Unlike with the Freeze products, the AminoGenesis products did not impress me very much the first time I used them (although they felt good enough after I applied them). However, after a couple of days, I started noticing that my skin was becoming firmer, the lines and wrinkles were becoming less noticeable, and my pores were getting smaller.

As I continued to use the AminoGenesis products, I noticed further improvements. The best part was that when I stopped using them for a few days, the lines and wrinkles did not become worse, and my skin did not lose the firmness it had gained! This suggests that AminoGenesis has long term benefits on the skin, at least for me. I believe that the 17 amino acids (the same ones found in collagen and elastin) are effective in getting past the protective barrier of the skin to reach and repair skin cells. (Click Here For More Details.)

CONS:

The Amino Genesis products did not give immediate results. However, I’m enjoying more noticeable long term benefits with this line of products. See More Information on the AminoGenesis Free Trial

Free Trial Kit Includes:

Perfect Reflection Serum, Anti Aging Day Cream, Counter Clockwise Eye Cream

How I Use It:

Morning – Wash face, apply Perfect Reflection serum, apply Counter Clockwise eye cream under eyes (then wait a minute for it to absorb), finish with Anti Aging Day Cream
Evening – Wash face and apply Counter Clockwise eye cream under eyes

THE VERDICT:
After careful consideration, I’ve called the Freeze 24/7 company to cancel future orders of the products. However, I did not return the first kit I received because they do work wonders almost instantly after they’re applied. I’ve continued to use AminoGenesis to reap long term benefits for my skin. I still use the Freeze 24/7 whenever I need to look good for “special occasions” (important meetings, get-togethers, or when I’m feeling especially tired and look it). Hopefully over time the AminoGenesis will improve my lines to the point where I won’t need Freeze 24/7 anymore. :)

Well, I hope that my experience has help you with your decisions as well. Here again are links to the free trials:

Too Many Choices – and Traps!

May 2nd, 2009

Over the past few days I’ve browsed countless sites for consumer opinions on various anti aging facial creams.  The thing is, with so many anti-wrinkle products out there, which one should I pick to try?

I’ve noticed that for almost all of the facial skin care products I looked at, there are both supporters that swear by their effectiveness, and “boo’ers” that complain they had wasted their money on the product.  I guess what this boils down to is that different products work for different folks because everyone’s skin is different.  For this reason, I’m prepared to try at least several different skin care products until I find one that works well enough for me.

The problem is that this stuff costs money – some of them a lot.  I could just limit myself to the cheaper products, but then, if I end up trying a bunch of stuff that don’t work, won’t that be a waste of more money?  I’d much rather spend a little more and actually get something that works.

Then I found a way to minimize the costs of buying and trying different products – many products offer free trials, where they let you try the product for a number of days for free.  If a product doesn’t work for me, I could send it back before the deadline and not pay anything.

The only thing I need to watch is that I don’t sign up for scam offers, which seem to be rampant in facial cream trial offers.  I’ve come across complaint reports filed by consumers who have ordered the “free trial products”, only to find out afterwards that the 14-day “free trial period” (for example) included shipping time for BOTH WAYS.  Now how would that give anyone time to test the product when it takes 5-7 days to ship the product each way?  I made a mental note to always read the terms and conditions of each offer before signing up.

So, I’m going to be compiling a list of free trials to choose from.  Then, I’ll research each product by going to forums where I can find genuine feedback by consumers (instead of the “review sites” that get paid to promote products and “top 10″ sites that get paid to rank certain products higher than others).  After that I’ll pick some free trials to actually try out.

Please stay tuned!

Why Anti Aging Facial Creams All of a Sudden?

April 28th, 2009

Thanks for checking out my blog!  The reason why you’re here may be because you’re a personal friend and have received an email invitation to visit my new blog.  Or, you may have found out about my blog from one of the postings I made at one of the skin care / beauty forums I frequent.  Either way, welcome to my blog!

I’m starting this blog mainly to solicit some help on selecting a decent anti aging facial cream for myself, and secondly to document my findings in the hopes that other people may also find them useful.  So…why would I start looking for an anti aging face cream all of a sudden?

I’m by no means a vain person (you’d know if you were one of my personal friends) but the other day when I went shopping with a friend (Cat/Cathy for those of you who know her) the woman at the cosmetics counter asked if I was Cat’s mother.  (Poor me isn’t even 50 yet and Cat’s only 7 years younger than me!)  Needless to say there was quite a bit of embarrassment and profuse apologies from the woman at the counter, and I acted like it was no big deal to make the poor woman feel better.  While we were having lunch later at a nearby restaurant, I couldn’t help but sneak secret peeks at my reflection on the mirror behind Cat and compare my face to Cat’s.  I really couldn’t blame the woman – I did look significantly older than Cat did, with forehead wrinkles, lines around and under my eyes, deep “laugh” lines (ironically this is no laughing matter), and more lines around my mouth.

Managing my own business while bringing up both kids at the same time must have taken its toll on me over the years.  Thinking about this made me a little sad, but then I decided to take some action to make myself look younger, now that I have the time and money to spend on myself (both my “kids” have grown up and moved out).  I wanted to try anti aging facial creams to see if they would work or not, because I wanted something simple that didn’t involve needles or surgery.  The question was which specific facial cream to buy first.  I always like to do plenty of research online before buying a product, so that’s what I’ll be doing for the next while.

I’ll be updating this blog to report my findings.  In the meantime, if you have any suggestions please don’t hesitate to help me out by leaving a comment below.  Thanks!
